Victorian, circa 1870 Large George Jones Majolica pitcher decorated with white orchids on rustic brown ground. Green orchid leaves form the handle. Ochre rim. Turquoise interior. Green and brown mottled underside with three stilt marks, raised pattern registration diamond and pattern number ''3439'' painted in reserve. Similar piece illustrated on page 98, Abrams ''Majolica A complete History and illustrated Survey'' by Karmason & Stacke. Good. Kiln effects: crazing to the orchids; some brown glaze run over the leaves. Two repaired cracks and a hairline to rim. Two restored chips to spout. Restored chip to handle.
