Victorian, circa 1870 Holdcroft Majolica pitcher modeled in an unusual disc shape, decorated on either side with two fish on a naturalistic cobalt background. Ochre around the rim with seaweed molding below the spout. Bamboo molded handle. Turquoise interior, foot, and around sides. Green glaze to underside of foot along with impressed unreadable pattern registration diamond and a painted mark. Good. No restoration. No hairlines. Small shallow chip to ochre rim around the side. Slight wear to cobalt ground. Kiln effects: thin glaze inside neck showing brown coloration; small firing hole to ochre rim around spout; small shrinkage crack to top of handle; glaze miss to lower base edge. 8ins high
