Victorian, circa 1870 Holdcroft Majolica pitcher in the form of a bear holding a drum and drumsticks behind his head. Handle in the form of a cobalt drum strap. Turquoise interior. Green underside with three stilt marks and a painted cobalt mark. Similar piece illustrated on page 107, Abrams ''Majolica A complete History and illustrated Survey'' by Karmason & Stacke. Good. No hairlines. No flakes. Slight rubbing to handle. Kiln effects: a few small firing pits to drum interior; glaze pop to nose and right elbow. Repaired crack running from the bear''s right arm, over ear to drum. Repair to lower jaw. 7.75ins high
