An Early Roseville Stoneware Brown Grazing Walking Cow Pitcher Pre-1916
This 7 1/2†tall stoneware art pottery pitcher has brilliant brown, green and yellow tones. One side features a grazing brown cow, the opposite side features a walking brown cow. Both cows are situated under a green tree with brown bark. The green of the leafy tree is repeated in the green of the grass the cow is standing on. It is pre-1916, as it is only marked with the number “7†on the bottom.
The handle is painted a tree-bark brown and is in wonderful condition. The spout is also in good shape.
It is rare to find a pitcher in such good condition. This one has 2 very tiny rim-chips (see photos) and several hairline age cracks (see photos) inside amid the general crazing associated with a stoneware pottery product of this age.
Pitcher measures 8 ½†spout to handle. The top diameter is 5 ¾â€.
