Antique Pottery : A large Tyneside Sunderland Lustre Jug C. early 19thC
An Antique large and good early 19th century Sunderland Lustre Jug having a brightly coloured view of the Iron
Bridge in Sunderland with text "A west view of the Iron Bridge at Sunderland, begun 24th Sept 1793 opened
9th August 1796" also to the sides of this various small panels of further text "Cast Iron 214", "Wrought 4.6 tons",
"height 100 feet" and "span ???", and some hand paint floral decoration. On one side is a nautical verse with Ships and Anchors (see image for verse) with
applied hand painted decoration. The other side with a freindship nautical Verse (see relevant image), again with hand painted decoration
The purple lustre of good strong colour, circa around 1820 from the Nort East of England
Good Antique Condition with a tight hairline through center of base, probably from time of manufacture (please see image)
and some paint flakes from the hand painted decoration (we have shown these in images to help. other hairlines
Mentioned for accuracy as expected light wear to the top rim and handle, surfaces scratches commensurate with age and also a miniscule nibble on spout
As Sunderland lustre go this giant Jug in in great condition with no other damage, and no restoration. Please view images - A great piece for the Collector
