Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire figure of an eagle perched on top of a rock, above its egg filled nest. A russet and white spaniel is leaping up from below. Shredded clay decoration to the rock, forming the nest. Dull gilt decoration and base line. Small, rough vent hole to underside. No book reference found. Good. No cracks. No hairlines. No chips. Some paint losses to the eagle''s back, tail and wings. Kiln effects: fine kiln soot caught in the glaze to the front and reverse; stray cobalt glaze to the front. Restoration of the spaniel''s hind right leg. 6.5ins high
