Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire figure of a boy standing beside an oversized russet and white spaniel. A girl is sat on the spaniel''s back. Boy''s right arm molded free. Dull gilt base line and collar. Vent hole to underside. Similar piece illustrated figure a2305A, page 221, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 3, by A.& N. Harding. Generally good. No hairlines. No chips. Slight rubbing to gilt and the girl''s hat. Wear to the front. Kiln effects: small shrinkage crack to lower base edge at front and another to base edge at reverse; firing pit to reverse of boy''s waist. Repaired shrinkage crack to the boy''s neck. Restoration of his right hand. Retouching to shoes. 7ins high
