Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire titled figure of Ophelia standing on an oval base. Wearing a dress with a garland of fruit draped around her waist and a floral headdress. She is holding flowers in both hands. Arms molded free. Dull gilt decoration. Decorated all round. Painted mark to underside. This figure is based on a character from the play ''Hamlet, Prince of Denmark'' by William Shakespeare and pairs with Hamlet. Similar Lady Macbeth piece illustrated figure 1046 P, page 286, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 1, by A.& N. Harding. Good. No hairlines. No chips. No flakes. Rubbing to gilt. Kiln effects: shrinkage crack and a firing pit to underside. Retouching to hair and headdress. 9.75ins high
