Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire clock figure of Romeo and Juliet. Juliet stood on her balcony and Romeo serenading her from below. Juliet has one arm molded free. Dull gilt base line. Shredded clay decoration to base and turrets. Similar piece illustrated figure 1070, page 294, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 1, by A.& N. Harding. Good. No hairlines. No chips. Bruise to lower base edge at side. A few small paint losses to Romeo''s shorts and hat. Kiln effects: firing hole to reverse of clock; stray cobalt glaze and stained crazing to reverse. Repair to Juliet''s right wrist. Some minor retouching to paint losses. 11ins high
