Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire spill vase depicting Rebekah and Abraham''s servant standing either side of a small well. She holds a water jug from which he is drinking. Shredded clay decoration to ground and spill. Orange spill interior. Dull gilt decoration and base line. Similar piece illustrated figure 1757, page 37, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding. Good. No cracks. No hairlines. No chips. Small flake to base edge at reverse. One small paint loss to Rebekah''s hair at side. Kiln effects: overall crazing, kiln soot caught in the glaze to reverse. Restoration of spill top. Retouching to Rebekah''s hair, scarf and pupils of both figures. 10.75ins high
