Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire figure of Queen Victoria and Victor Emmanuel II standing on a gilt titled base which reads ''QUEEN & KING OF SARDINIA''. A faithful dog stands next to Victor Emmanuel with one front leg molded free. Good detailed molding and enamel decoration. Old dull mercurial gilt decoration. Creamy glaze with blue tinge. Vent hole to reverse. Similar piece illustrated figure 791, page 228, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 1, by A.& N. Harding. Good. No hairlines. No chips. No flakes. Gilt slightly rubbed. Kiln effects: shrinkage crack to front of foot rim. Two overglazed manufacture marks, one to King''s right leg, the other to Queen''s right hand. Kiln dirt to front of the Queen''s dress. Small flecks of kiln dirt to top of base. Retouching to paint losses. 13.5ins high
