Pre-Victorian, circa 1830 Staffordshire Pearlware figure of a cow and calf. The russet and white cow stands looking down at a black and white calf, in front of a leafy bocage. Shredded clay decoration to base. Decorated all round. Hollow base. Good. Small chip to bocage. Kiln effects: over glazed shrinkage line to the cow''s left front leg; shrinkage crack between the cow''s left hind leg and her udder, to the reverse of the cow''s left hind leg, to the cow''s right hind leg, and where the cow joins the bocage; faint shrinkage line along the cow''s back (approx 0.5ins); firing hole to the reverse of the cow; glaze pops to the bocage and ground; kiln detritus to the cow, at the base of her neck; and small firing pit to the cow''s left hind leg. 6ins high
