pre-Victorian, circa 1830 Obadiah Sherratt Staffordshire Pearlware Bocage figure which features St. Luke holding a Bible, a cow at his feet, stood on a square base. The piece is titled, ''ST . LUKE'' to the front of the base. Multi-coloured version. Double base line painted in red. Decorated in the round with decoration to the front and the reverse. Vent hole to the underside. Book reference,''Sherratt? A Natural Family of Staffordshire Figures'', by Malcolm & Judith Hodkinson, page 31, figure 43. Generally good. Flake to reverse, to cloak and one bocage leaf. Remodelled right hand and left thumb. Remodelled section of bocage 8.1ins high, 4.9ins wide, 3.1ins depth
