Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire figure of Florence Nightingale, titled ''MISS NIGHTINGALE''. She stands beside a pillar with her left hand resting on a pile of books on top. Modeled on an oval base. Two dull gilt base lines and decoration. Vent hole to reverse. Similar piece illustrated figure 235, page 99, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 1, by A.& N. Harding. Good. Tiny flake to middle finger of left hand. Slight rubbing to her hair and the gilt. Kiln effects: shrinkage line along mold join to side of right arm and another to base edge at reverse; shrinkage line along mold join to side of pillar; two glaze misses to side of dress; firing pit to reverse. Repaired cracks to base front and underside. Restored chip to front of dress. 14ins high
