Pre-Victorian, circa 1820 Early Staffordshire titled bocage figure of Elijah, feeding bread to ravens. Elijah is modeled sitting on a naturalistic base in front of a bocage tree. One raven is perched on his right shoulder, another is perched by his side. Stream running below. Decorated all round. Good creamy glaze with blue tinge, and a vent hole inside the base. Generally good. No hairlines. Two minor chips to the underside. No paint losses. Kiln effects: a few shrinkage cracks inside the base. Kiln grit to reverse of base. Restored chips to the bocage. One section of bocage missing to his left. Trunk restored. One retouched flower. Elijah''s arms restored. Lower raven restored. Upper raven retouched. Small restored chips to lower base edge. 9.75ins high
