Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire figure modeled as Dick Turpin on his famous mare Black Bess. Dull gilt decoration to his clothes, reins and title. Two legs of horse are molded free. Vent hole to reverse. Similar piece illustrated plate 3, page 548, ''Staffordshire Portrait Figures'' by P D Gordon Pugh. Generally good. No cracks. No hairlines. No chips. Abrasion to Dick Turpin''s nose and some wear and abrasions to reverse. Gilt completely rubbed away. Kiln effects: two pieces of kiln detritus to Black Bess; glaze pops to cobalt glaze on reverse of Dick Turpin''s jacket; glaze misses to lower base edge at reverse. Retouching to ground and scarf. 11.5ins high
