Victorian, circa 1860 Pair Staffordshire quill holders, each modeled as a parrot sat on a tree stump with a recumbent lamb below. Colorful shredded clay decoration to the ground and stump. Quill hole on top of the base. Dull gilt base line and decoration around quill hole. Parrots decorated all round. Similar pair illustrated figure 2853/2854, page 235, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding. Generally good. Right facing: No restoration. Small chip to a piece of shredded clay. Some rubbing to parrot''s tail. Left facing: A few paint losses to the parrot''s tail. Kiln effects: a couple of small shrinkage lines to both sides. Repair to parrot''s neck. Retouching to parrot''s body. Old repair to tip of parrot''s tail. 5.25ins high
