Victorian, circa 1860 Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature spaniels holding baskets of flowers in their mouths, seated. Flatback, decorated only to the front . Black and white version. Vent hole to reverse and underside. Similar piece illustrated in, ''A-Z of Staffordshire Dogs, A Potted History'', by Clive Mason Pope, page 103, figure 54. Right facing: Good. Some tiny flakes to the paintwork. Kiln effects: fleck of stray black glaze to the reverse. Restored chip to tail. Retouching to minor paint losses. Left facing: Good. Feint star crack to the leg. Tiny flakes to the paintwork. Kiln effects: small firing pit above the eye; touch mark to the reverse. Restoration to underside of base. Retouching to paint losses. Tallest is 5.5ins high, 3.9ins wide, 2.6ins depth.
