Royal Doulton HN 1493, the Potter, made in England since 1932 and retired 1992. Designed by Charles J Noke. Measurements: 7'' high. An Arabic looking man, hood over his white headdress, heavilly cloaked sits crosslegged amidst a number of variously sized pots. He pears at a pot in one hand, one of his potting tools in the other. Each pot is mottled in different colours as are his clothes. He sits on a wonderfully coloured blue and purple fringed cloth on a base / platform. Marks: the piece is fully marked underneath:The Royal Doulton lion atop a crown with the name Royal Doulton, made in England in green. ''The Potter'' as well as HN 1493 and artist''s initials ''HW'' handwritten in green. Condition: very good. No chips/cracks/damage of any sort. 1998 book price was $650.
