Victorian, circa 1860 Pair Staffordshire figures modeled on horseback, each holding a pistol. The horses are modeled leaping a fence. The gent has a target below the horse''s front leg. Three legs of each horse, and one arm of each figure are molded free. Old, dull gilt decoration and base line. Applied shredded clay decoration to ground. Vent hole to reverse. Good. Gilt slightly rubbed. Gent: Small chip to lower base edge. Paint losses to gent''s cloak and horse. Kiln effects: shrinkage cracks to tail. Firing hole to cloak. Shrinkage line to gent''s neck. Retouching to black paint losses. Lady: Kiln effects: couple of shrinkage cracks to horse. Shrinkage line to lower base edge at front and reverse. Restored chip to pistol.
