Victorian, circa 1860 Pair Staffordshire figures of a boy and girl, climbing over the back of a spaniel. They each carry a drum. In front of each spaniel is a bowl, sat upon a small table. Dull gilt decoration. Vent hole to reverse. Similar piece illustrated figure 2239, page 147, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding. Good. Rubbing to gilt. Boy: Two tiny flakes to the bowl rim, spaniel''s ear and another to the table leg. Flaking to lower base edge. Kiln effects: firing pit to the spaniel''s tail; crazing. Repair to the boy''s neck. Two restored chips to hat and another to the boy''s nose. Girl: Flake to the spaniel''s left ear. Kiln effects: crazing; kiln soot caught in the glaze to the bowl and table; glaze miss to underside. Repair to her waist. Restored chip to bowl rim. Retouching to the drum edge. 9.75ins high
