Victorian, circa 1890 Pair Staffordshire free standing St. Bernard''s with dark orange glass eyes. Tan and cream coats . Bright gilt collar and locket. Two vent holes to belly of each. Similar pair illustrated on page 87 of Schiffer''s ''Staffordshire Animals'' by Adele Kenny. Good. Right facing: A few small flakes to the dog''s side, tail and left ear. Slight rubbing to gilt. Kiln effects: small shrinkage crack to top of left ear, and another to belly; a couple of tiny glaze misses to reverse. Restored flakes to rump, paws and eyebrows. Left facing: Very slight rubbing to gilt. Restored flakes to eyebrows, hind left leg and paw. 9.75ins high, 12ins wide
