Victorian, circa 1880 Pair Staffordshire figures of the Royal children, each standing before an oversized sheep. The sheep have granulated clay coats and one hind leg molded free. Bright gilt decoration and base line. Vent hole to reverse. Girl has painted mark to underside. Similar pair illustrated figures 2399/2400/2401 and 2402, pages 170 and 171, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding. Good. Some rubbing to gilt. Boy: Two small chips to underside. A few paint losses to his kilt and scarf. Kiln effects: over glazed shrinkage line to the sheep''s face; piece of kiln detritus between his knees. Restored flake to sheep''s nose. Girl: Chip to underside. Flake to brim of her hat. Minor paint loss to her skirt and reverse of sheep collar. Kiln effects: cobalt glaze run to her skirt; piece of kiln detritus to her leg. Repair to her neck. Restoration to brim of hat. Retouching to shoes. 8ins high
