Victorian, circa 1860 Pair Staffordshire figures of a russet and white Newfoundland dog, both standing on an oval base. Four legs and tail molded free. Dull gilt collar with locket, and decoration to the base. Decorated all round. No book reference found. Good. Some rubbing to gilt. Right facing: Small chip to lower base edge. Paint loss to tip of tongue. Kiln effects: small shrinkage line to right side of mouth; piece of kiln detritus to underside of base; slight staining to base, tail, both hind legs and underside of belly. Retouching to markings. Left facing: Small paint loss to tip of tongue. Kiln effects: two small shrinkage cracks to underside of base. Retouching to markings. 4.5ins high, 4.25ins wide
