From the early Soviet era, a wonderful porcelain figurine of a very nationalistic Russian peasant woman, made by the Kiev / Kyiv porcelain factory in the Ukraine, about 1950. I was told that she is called ''the angry housewife'' or Odarka.Measures 9 5/8inches high.She stands on a naturalistically modelled base.Every inch a tough Russian /Ukrainian Peasant. All handpainted. Fromt the bright red patterned scarf tied around her head, the wonderful Tartar facial features, Russian patterns on skirts, apron, jacket and heavy red boots. Fabulous modelling and hand painting.A red pitcher / jug is placed upside down on a fence behind her. Factory marks underneath.MINT condition.
