Victorian, circa 1860 Small pair Staffordshire russet and white seated spaniels. Decorated with feathered russet markings. Ochre collars and lockets. Vent hole to undersides. Generally good. No hairlines. Right facing: Minor paint loss to collar and tip of tail. Kiln effects: small shrinkage crack to base at front of tail; small firing hole to reverse of spaniel''s left ear; small firing pit to reverse of base. Restored chip to left front paw. Retouching to face and russet markings. Left facing: Flake above spaniel''s right eye, and to reverse of right ear. Paint loss to left ear. Kiln effects: kiln soot caught in the glaze; piece of kiln detritus caught inside causing piece to rattle; kiln detritus between the front paws. Restored chip to tail and front paws.
