Victorian, circa 1860 Large Staffordshire figure of a hunter holding game in his left hand, with more game draped over his right arm and hanging by his side. A gun lies at his feet and a russet and white dog sits by his side. Dull gilt decoration and base line. Similar piece illustrated figure 1825, page 57, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding. Fair. No hairlines. No chips. Some paint losses to the ground, gun, game, scarf and hat feather. Some rubbing to gilt. Kiln effects: craze line to the underside; overall crazing; a few touch marks to the game in hunter''s left hand. Restoration of the dog''s free molded leg. Repair around the base of the dog and onto the reverse. 15.75ins high
