Victorian, circa 1860 Large Staffordshire figure of a hunter standing on a rock, holding a rifle and carrying a deer bound at the legs over his shoulder. Blue striped short trousers. Dull gilt base line and decoration. Vent hole to reverse. Similar piece illustrated figure 1835, page 59, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding. Generally good. No cracks. No hairlines. Flake to reverse, nose, belt, left index finger and a few smaller flakes to the rock edge. Bruise to the deer''s leg. Rubbing to gilt. Restoration to hat. Restored chips around the base edge. Restored flakes to the rock. Retouching to cloak, rifle and pupils. 14.75ins high
