Victorian, circa 1880 Large pair Staffordshire russet and cream seated spaniels with bright gilt collar, locket and chain. Ochre eyes, black muzzles and red mouths. Vent hole to reverses. Good. Some rubbing to gilt. Right facing: Small bruise to right ear. Kiln effects: tight shrinkage hairline to underside, just visible between front and hind paw; smudging of right eyebrow and eyeline; kiln soot to top of head, reverse and tail; staining to tail; some stray black enamel to the reverse and over the spaniel''s back. Retouching to the russet marking above front leg. Left facing: Kiln effects: kiln soot to top of head; staining to chest, reverse and tail. Repaired crack to underside running under and up between the front and hind paws. Retouching to a couple of the russet markings. 13.5ins high
