Victorian, circa 1900 Kent Staffordshire titled figure of Giuseppe Garibaldi modeled standing before his horse on an oval naturalistic base. All four legs of the horse and both Giuseppe''s legs and sword are molded free. Bright gilt decoration. Decorated all round. Vent hole to reverse. Similar piece illustrated figure 139p, page 62, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 1, by A.& N. Harding. Good. No restoration. Kiln effects: shrinkage line to the left hind leg, below tail and between Garibaldi and the saddle; some paint loss to ground and saddle bag; two specks of stray brown enamel to reverse of saddle. 9.25ins high
