Early 20thC Kent Staffordshire titled figure of Falstaff, modeled standing on an oval base. One hand clutches his belt, and the other holds a staff. Legs and staff are molded free. Decorated all round. Vent hole to reverse and underside. Inspiration for this figure comes from the character in the Shakespearean comedy ''The Merry Wives of Windsor''. Similar piece illustrated figure 1061, page 290, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 1, by A.& N. Harding. Good. No restoration. No cracks. No hairlines. No chips. Some paint losses to coat, belt, ground and button. Kiln effect: small shrinkage line to side of neck. 7ins high
