Pre-victorian, circa 1790 Early Staffordshire Prattware figure representing Winter. Modeled as a female figure hugging a long cloak around her to keep warm. She is standing on a naturalistic mound with a fire burning in front. Molded on a square pedestal base. Cobalt, green and yellow underglaze metal oxide decoration and detailing all round. Vent hole inside the base. Similar piece illustrated in figure 19, page 109, ''English Earthenware Figures 1740-1840'' by Pat Halfpenny. Generally good. No hairlines. Abrasions to the ground and upper base edge. Repaired crack along mold join on both sides. Repaired crack under chin. Restored chips around the lower base edge. Restoration to back corners of base. Restored bruise to nose. 10.5ins high
