Parian Ware dog sculpture by Daniel Chester French. Daniel Chester French (1850 - 1931) is well known as the sculptor who created the massive statue of Abraham Lincoln which sits in the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. The sculptures are titled "Imposing on Good Nature" and "Retribution".
Retribution has the artist's name "D.C. French" impressed on side of base.
The sculpture is 5" in height and 6 1/4" in length.
Retribution has the bottom portion of his left rear leg missing, The basket has been reattached to the base. No other restorations.
A lovely and rare piece.
