Early Staffordshire figure of a shepherd & his dog, modelled standing on a grassy mound with a bocage rising up behind applied with large flowerheads, the base with impressed inscription SHEPERD, the whole brightly enameled.
Circa 1825
References: Walton & others also made this figure, most probably copying a Derby original. This example compares well to marked Salt examples, particularly the leaves, flowers, and small sprig above the inscription. ref. Halfpenny English Earthenware Figures’ p23
