Exquisite antique porcelain centerpiece bowl depicting a cherub riding a dolphin. The cherub has a Bisque Parian finish. The rest of the centerpiece is glazed. The section above ht cherub's head and the border beneath the dolphin have a high glaze burgundy color. The bottom of the border after the burgundy central portion has gilt stylized floral petals design. Above that it has gilt leaves connected in a wreath like pattern all along the upper border. The inside is all white with a gilt border. The bottom section has a gilt border a burgundy border and a stylized white and gilt flower petal design along the base with a solid gilt border below that. This centerpiece may also be used on a lady's dressing table to keep jewelry or other personal items. You're limited only to your imagination concerning use of this beautiful piece. It will look lovely and be very useful to hold potpourri or it could be used in the center of a dining table as a lovely centerpiece with floating flowers. It is in excellent condition. The bottom has 3 blue glazed marks similar to what you would see in 19th century Danish porcelains. It measures 6-3/8 inches high. The top measures 6-1/4 inches wide. The base has a diameter of 4 inches. The cherub measures 3-7/8 inches from the top of his wings to the bottom of the dolphin. The cherub is holding the dolphin's fins while he sits back and relaxes against the dolphins body as if seated in a chair.
