Antique, Victorian majolica jardiniere. Made in Europe, circa 1880. Measurements: approx 4 1/4 inches accross; 5 3/4 inches to top of pointy hat. Semicircular jardiniere. The front & sides modelled with a clown or child in jester''s costume astride a large boar. The pig with curled up horns and curly tail. The child holding onto his main with one hand and his tail with the other. The back of the jardiniere is modelled with flowing foliage and plants. Classic majolica colouring. Inside, the jardiniere is turquoise; the back is done in shades of green, the pig shades of brown and the child with pink, white and yellow costume, red shoes and sitting on a green, modelled rug.
