Victorian, circa 1870 Minton Majolica game pie dish and cover. Rustic handles in the form of branches bound together with rope. Four claw feet. Cream basket weave ground with a panel on either side, one with a pheasant, the other with a hare, and sprigs of holly sprouting from the handles. Cover is surmounted by a hunting dog asleep beside a rifle, powder flask and game bag. Turquoise interior. Three stilt marks and a vent hole to reverse of cover. Three stilt marks to underside of dish with impressed maker''s marks ''MINTONS'' and ''964''. Vent hole underneath the feet. Good. Dish: Small flake to rim. Some wear to interior. Repair to one foot. Restored bruise to inner rim. Cover: No restoration. Slight wear to the dog''s back. 14ins wide, 8ins high
