Victorian, circa 1880 George Jones Majolica sardine dish and cover. The dish is molded as a turquoise wicker basket with reed decoration to corners of stand, ochre rims. Mottled green and brown underside with impressed marks and painted ''5211'' in reserve. Cover is molded with a fish lying on a bed of reeds, which forms the handle. Pink interior. Three stilt marks to underneath of cover. Good. No hairlines. Cover: two small rim flakes. Repair across one corner. Dish: small chip to rim. A couple of shrinkage cracks where dish meets stand. Slight wear and heavy crazing to underside. No restoration to dish. 8.25ins by 7.5ins, 3.5ins high
