Beautiful pair of Victorian plates - the pattern is Imari style with cloud and lotus borders, and gold scrolls and chrysanthemums to the central area. Colours are pale peach, Indian red, cobalt blue and gold. Plates are a good heavy weight and measure 26.75cm diameter (10.1/2 inches). They are very grand plates, but the only backstamp is Wm. Fairbairns & Sons in a garter mark. Pattern design is 3 over 2032. William Fairbairns operated in North Staffordshire, mid to late 19th century. There is a further impressed mark, but unfortunately the lettering in this second mark is too faint, although I can see " ...tone" which I think may be Iron Stone. The plates are rather like Crown Derby in style, but not bone china. Excellent condition.
