Caughley sauceboat, the body moulded with ribs and rococo scroll framed reserves, painted in underglaze blue with panels of flowers, scattered sprigs, and a large bug to the front panel, the rim and interior lip with a cell border.
Unmarked, c.1780
References: Caughley and Worcester both made this ribbed form, the main difference being the handle shape. ref. Godden -Caughley & Worcester porcelains, p.257 for an example alongside the shard from the Caughley factory site.
Condition: excellent condition, minor firing flaws beneath foot
