An English Pottery Queen CarolinePlate, Circa 1820 The small creamware plate with a relief portrait of Queen Caroline wearing an elaborate feathered hat. Caroline had an unhappy marriage to the Prince of Wales who deserted her within a year of their wedding in 1795. ;She lived abroad for many years but on the death of George III she returned to London amid popular rejoicing. ;She was excluded from the coronation in 1821 and died broken-hearted in the same year.
