Extraordinary set of ten Limoge oyster plates. The finest French porcelain combined with superb professional decoration make these a collector's dream. Each white porcelain plate has five compartments and fine ruffled edges. The decoration is assorted leaves, done in green and brushed gold. The edges and center are both heavily gilded. The plates look completely unused and are suffering no wear at all. There is a small touched up chip on one plate, and what looks like an original very small crease in the gold edge of one plate, I have pictured both clearly. Eight plates are perfect. This oyster set is fully marked with the over glaze decorating mark of Tressemann & Vogt mark #9 and the white ware mark of Lanternier mark#4. A single virtually identical plate is pictured in The Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoge Porcelain, (plate #245, page 105). Fresh from a local Brooklyn estate. 8 " diameter.
