Superb set of Limoge Game Bird plates in an Aesthetic Movement taste. These square porcelain plates feature a brilliant cobalt blue border decorated with gold leaves and branches. There are delicate flowers on the branches and they are painted in an opal white which is raised like enamel. Each plate has a game bird hanging from a branch and a scenic back round with lake and trees. There is also a nest among reeds of green and gold along the bottom right corner of each plate. The cobalt blue border is edged inside and out in gold. This set is an example of French professional factory decoration at it's best. Fully marked for the firm of Gerard, Dufraisseix and Morel, mark #1 (GDM) and the decorating firm of Charles Field Haviland mark# 3. This set is a rare opportunity for the discerning collector of Limoge, game sets or Aesthetic Movement antiques. Fresh from a local Brooklyn estate. Fine original condition, with only minor wear to the gilding on the inside of the plates where they were stacked. 7 1/2" square.
