This is a great Mikasa Kutani bird dinner or luncheon set, named Kutani for the area where a high grade of kaolin was found and porcelain produced. Great colors, the coffee cup is footed and the bird which could be a mythical Phoenix bird is delightful, depicts a similar chintz pattern or Imari type of design. The is a 20 piece set and there are (4) cups and saucers, (4) salad plates, (4) desert plates, and (4) Dinner plates designer signed on the back of the dinner plates. This is great for a small dinner party or an evening of cards, would delight your guests. How about using this as a start set of dishes for a lover of Japanese art.
