Meissen chocolate cup & saucer, superbly painted in the manner of Johann Georg Heintze with a continuous landscape, the cup having travelers on horseback making their way past a village and crossroads with sign, a wide river and quay with shipping at one side, the saucer with five figures making their way to a farmhouse, a castle in the background and a pond in the foreground, all within a double iron red line border, the cup with a
wishbone handle.

References: Provenance: The Antique Porcelain Company, NY ref. Wark collection #221 for a very similar cup & saucer by Heintze, and #224 for an example with a scene on the river Elbe, with Meissen to one side. This scene is in the same feel, and judging by the river
