Victorian, circa 1870 Majolica sardine dish and cover. Dish decorated with water lilies and reeds on cobalt ground, with brown scroll relief molding around the base. Rope twist border around the rim. Two overlapping fish laid on reeds and water lilies on top of the cover. Lilac interior. Ochre glazed underside with a painted mark. Dish: Kiln effect: patchy glaze to interior. Repaired hairline to rim. Restored flakes to inner rim and base edge. Cover: No restoration. Small chip to reed tip. Flake to fish fin. Kiln effect: glaze miss to underside. 7.5ins by 6.75ins, 4.75ins high
