Victorian, circa 1880 JRL Majolica sardine dish and cover. Dish decorated with water lilies and reeds on cobalt ground, with brown scroll molding around the base. Rope twist border around the rim. Two overlapping fish laid on reeds and water lilies on top of the cover. Turquoise interior with stilt marks to underside of cover. Ochre underside with stilt marks, painted ''3'' and impressed ''JRL'' maker''s mark. Good. Dish: Several small flakes to inner rim. Slight wear to exterior. Kiln effects: shrinkage line to underside; glaze pop to scroll base. Two repaired hairlines to rim. Retouching to the scroll base. Cover: Repair to one end and along one edge on the underside.
