This is a beautifully detailed piece featuring a large, hand painted center rose surrounded by 4 smaller hand painted roses. Encircling these is a richly decorated, raised scroll rim, very wide and featuring fine gold leaf. Meauring just under 8" in diameter and about 1 1/2" deep, all of these equisite details rest on a clear white porcelain china. In beautiful condition with only slight scuffing on the base, no cracks and one spot of slight crazing an the bottom, this is a fine collector's piece!
The mark, an "S" within a capped circle above SCHOENAU. Beneath the mark in gold "1517" with a "28" below. Also, upon very close observation, "165" impressed. This latter number is just barely visible - it was necessary to set up the shot with very deep shadows to capture the impression on film.
