A very fine early example of a Worcester Butterboat handpainted in underglazed blue with the `Butterboat Mansfield Pattern` On this early example the painter has taken great care with the pattern with a more even distribution and finer painting. The moulding of the geranium leaves are nicely detailed compared to some I have seen. In fine condition with only the faintest hint of a hairline beside the handle, this does not show even with a bright light and is impossible to photograph needing very close inspection to spot. Crucially on this superb little butterboat there are no unsightly chips or restoration. Marked with a Worcester 3 dot workmans mark. Measures 8.5 cms long x 3.5 cms high.
