Beautiful antique hand painted German military stein with a pewter top depicting soldiers. After you drink the beer inside you can see a lilthophane image of a soldier leaving for the war. The thumb press has a crowned lion. It has a lot of German names going up and down along either side of the handle, which may be the names of the soldiers. There is also German writing across the front of the top. This is a very colorful and beautifully painted German stein dated 1901-1903. it measures 11-1/4 inches high with a diameter at the base of 4-1/4 inches, and 9-1/2 inches high to the top of the lion thumb press.
